Should I choose an Apple Computer and which one will be the right one?
Why choose an Apple Computer and why it is so popular?
Since 2010 Apple has been one of the most valuable companies in the world. The reason Apple is so highly valued is that the company makes popular products.
Apple Mac computers perform well due to the fact that Apple designed its operating system to do a better job and use less power due to the longer battery life.
A new report from Canalys shows that Apple computer shipments grew by 28%, shipping almost 29 million Macs in 2021.
The main draw is macOS which is a sleek and clean operating system that gets a lot right compared with Windows 10.
Which Mac to choose for first-time buyers or replace an older one?
Apple now makes six different types of Macs. You have a choice of MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iMac, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro.
Within each of these categories, there are the size, specs, and features to decide on. It can get pretty complicated which Mac to choose. Your own circumstances will determine that. Let’s discuss a few relevant ones.
MacBook Air
Screen size 13.3″
Cheapest and lightest laptop
Best for students and home users
MacBook Pro 13’/14″
Screen size 1.3″ and 14.2″
More expensive than the MBA
Best for office and home workers
MacBook Pro 16″
Screen size 16″
Bigger screen
Best for anyone who needs a bigger display
iMac 24″
Screen 24″ 4.5K
Not portable
Best for office or home
In closing: If the majority of what you do on your Mac is everyday tasks, such as sending and receiving email, browsing the web, and using office applications, the MacBook Air is quite capable of meeting your needs.
As the Pro part of the name suggests, the 13″ MacBook Pro is generally a more powerful machine than the MacBook Air. The most notable differences are that the Pro offers longer battery life, the Touch Bar, a brighter display, and better speakers.
One of the biggest differences between the 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro is the battery life: 17 hours versus 21 hours. Both the 14″ and 16″ also have the best graphics options and more memory to suit pro users.
The iMac is probably Apple’s most famous Mac. First introduced in 1998 and some people don’t even realise that the whole computer is concealed behind the display. The design of the iMac hadn’t changed much in the past decade or so until April 2021 when Apple launched an all-new design with the 24″ iMac. Now it is incredibly thin and comes in seven different colours.
