Why does my Mac suddenly have no sound?
There are several reasons why your laptop’s audio may not be working and the following can assist you to eliminate the basic ones.
Here they are:
Malfunction of the speakers.
Muted Volume.
Windows may be sending sound to the wrong audio device.
Disruption can be caused by audio enhancements.
Conflicting audio drivers after operating system update.
A few tips on what to do:
Check the volume.
Click on the speaker icon and make sure the volume is on and turned up.
Use headphones
If the audio works it means you have a problem with your built-in speakers.
Check Audio Devices
Your operating system may be sending sound to the incorrect audio device.
Select one device at a time and if the sound works you have found the problem.
Disable any audio enhancement.
A built-in feature that improves your audio experience can be disabled.
Use the audio troubleshooter.
Restart your audio services and if nothing else has worked so far run the Audio Troubleshooter.
Finally, this kind of issue can be open-ended as the Mac designs up until 2015 make a chime sound when powered on whilst the newer ones do not.
