Should I insure my Apple Mac?
Should I insure my Apple Mac?
When do you realize that you did not think to insure your Apple Mac?
Out of 10 claims for liquid and screen damage on average, only 1 is insured to cover the repair cost.
If you think of the cost of your new Apple Mac and losing it due to an accident either by spilling liquid or dropping your Mac it definitely warrants a second thought before it happens. Even if the Mac can be salvaged the cost of repairs is high and it can be prevented.
What to consider going forward?
1. Comprehensive Cover
Theft
When the bad guys steal or damage your stuff.
Accidental damage
When accidental oopsies damage your Mac you are covered.
Loss
Cover for when you forget your Mac on the plane and you don’t get it back.
If you have vehicle and household insurance you might be able to add it to your current policy. If you are not sure speak to your broker.
2. Buy an AppleCare plan.
Most new Apple devices come with a limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support. If your device is eligible you can buy an AppleCare Protection Plan for additional coverage.
However, damage due to liquid exposure is not covered.
In closing according to research a laptop is stolen every 53 seconds and protecting your Mac against theft and damage should be at the top of your list.
