SHOULD I UPGRADE MY OLD MAC OR BUY A NEW ONE?

You might love your old Mac but it is no longer performing and you should consider upgrading or replacing it.

Because each individual has different needs and requirements it will depend on a few factors for example the cost to upgrade or to replace.

Here is a list of factors that you should consider:

1. Cost

This is going to be the first thing that you will have to consider,  especially if you are a person on a budget and do not have a lot of money to spend.

If you are considering an upgrade, you will most likely be upgrading the RAM and SSD.

The upgrade is going to be cheaper but this is just your upfront cost.

2. Comfort

This is another reason that many Mac users want to just do an upgrade as they love their old system and are very comfortable using it.

Even if you feel that you will miss the old Mac once you get to use the new one you will quickly forget about that old one as it will be a lot faster.

3. Performance

You will be very limited as to what you can upgrade on your old machine and the upgraded old machine will not perform as well as a new one.

The question is if you need a super-fast Mac and what you use it for. If you just use it to do some light word processing and send emails, you will probably be fine with an upgrade.

4. Longevity

Will the money you put into the upgrade be worth it since you might only have a year or two left?

Even if you upgraded your Mac you need to understand it has been surpassed by newer technology in the more modern Macs.

Another thing to consider is that the other parts can fail at any time and end the life of your Mac leaving you with no benefit for that upgrade.

5. Operating System

At some point, you will be stuck with an old operating system which will in turn limit what applications you can run on your machine.

We normally use our computers with current applications and technology and you still need to be able to use apps that are useful to you.

Finally:

Should I upgrade or buy a new one? Having the latest technology will always be the deciding factor even if cost is also important. You will have to weigh up the two and decide what works best for your situation.
