Weekly Apple Mac Repair Requests. Week 1 Part 2. Updated 2023
Good day ZA Support Readers
In Part 2 this week I want to touch on general issues with either the battery or charging port.
General Reported Issue
My Mac is not charging.
What to look out for.
Inspect the hardware
Make sure everything is plugged in and undamaged. Check the port, the charging cable, the power adapter, and the AC wall adapter.
Software
Sometimes updating your software may fix your Mac’s charging problems.
Make sure your Mac is running the most recent version of the macOS software.
Reset the SMC (System Management Controller)
You can also reset the chip on your Mac’s logic board that controls the power.
Power Source
Your computer is connected to a power source that gives it enough power to run, but not enough power to charge the battery. Your Mac might not charge when it is connected to a low-wattage adapter. You can still use your Mac without draining its battery, but the battery won’t charge, even if you turn off your Mac or put it to sleep.
Different Applications
Your Mac is running at a very high-performance level that uses more power than the power source provides. Some apps — such as video editing software and video games — can require more power and drain the battery more quickly.
If you are still not sure what the problem can be you can contact ZA Support for advice.
